The Corvette Grand Sport Returns

The Corvette Grand Sport is back. Elaborating on its heritage, the Grand Sport has the same DNA and racing spirit as the 1963 original. Lightweight and with a high-powered LT1 6.2 L V8 engine, this pedigree of the Corvette performance family is a sports car done right.

Sportier Edge

  • 6.2 L V8
  • Direct Injection
  • Continously Variable Valve Timing
  • Active Fuel Management
  • The Grand Sport has the Corvette precision with a sportier edge, for greater performance and endurance. With 466 hp (343 kW), 630 Nm of torque and a top speed of 290 km/h, the Grand Sport is reaching a new threshold. The high-powered 6.2 L LT1 V8 engine accelerates to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds. Track-bred technology gives responsive handling, impressive grip and pedal-feel. Basically the same interaction and feedback as from a racing car.

    Fuel consumption combined (l/100km): 12,4-12,3; CO2 emissions combined (g/km) 284-282; Fuel Efficiency Category: G

  • Direct fuel injection rallies performance. Unlike typical fuel systems, fuel is injected into the cylinder, resulting in more efficient fuel delivery and better combustion. It increases torque, power and fuel efficiency, whilst reducing exhaust emissions.

  • The dual-equal phaser adjusts camshaft timing at the same rate for both intake and exhaust valves. This improves low-rpm torque and high-rpm horsepower, while bolstering fuel economy.

  • Designed for peak power and fuel efficiency, the sophisticated engine controller deactivates four cylinders in lighter-load conditions and leverages all eight cylinders during more vigorous driving.

Proper Racing Heritage

The latest member of the performance family is a perfect example of technical racing legacy. From the road prowess of the Stingray to the track-dominant Z06, the new Grand Sport takes active driving to a new level.

  • To relive racetrack exploits, the Chevrolet Performance Data Recorder1 logs driving sessions with real-time data onto an SD memory card. The windshield-mounted 720p high-definition camera, on-board processor, internal accelerometers and GPS system provide an advanced driving analysis tool. Used also by the Corvette pro racing team, the Cosworth Toolbox software offers numerous opportunities to fine-tune driving technique.

  • With the turn of a dial, everything changes. Five distinct driver modes (Weather, Eco, Tour, Sport and Track) electronically calibrate up to 12 performance variables to adapt the Grand Sport for any road.

Pure Performance

The Grand Sport combines original Corvette DNA with clever engineering and lean design to create a modern sports car. The wider body features sophisticated aerodynamics and cooling elements.

Track-ready Aerodynamics

Primed to perform lap after lap, the Grand Sport is designed with technical excellence and for exceptional performance. The race-bred sports car combines a sleek and lightweight architecture with a track-honed aerodynamics package. And for the ultimate in lean design, the Z06-style rear spoiler, carbon-fiber rocker panels and carbon-fiber ground effects package reduce weight further and contribute to the overall aerodynamics.

Racing Legacy

  • The original Corvette Grand Sport was born to dominate the track, its natural territory. Developed in 1963 from lightweight materials and packed with the power of a 6.2L 377 CI small block V8 engine, it had a long-lasting impact on Chevrolet racing. The five prototypes created still exist today.

  • To mark the end of the fourth-generation Corvette production, the Grand Sport returned in 1996 with a limited run of 1,000 cars. Complete with a high-performance LT4 V8 engine and ZR1 chassis, this Grand Sport also featured the retro color scheme in Admiral Blue with a white stripe and red hash marks.

  • A potent blend of racing power and precision, the 2010 Grand Sport entered with a wider Z06 chassis and a 436-hp (325 kW), 6.2 L LS3 V8 engine. It could do 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and achieve 1.0 g on the skid pad. And a Heritage Package displayed the signature hash marks above the front fenders.
